Imagine, just for a moment if you will, the stress that has been building up for weeks, months, maybe even years, in your neck, back and shoulders, arms, legs and feet, simply melting away in the next hour. That is what you could experience in a visit to Nagelhout Massage Therapy in Wessington. Whether you are experiencing pain due to an injury or illness, or you are suffering the effects of anxiety and tension of a stress-filled life, one of Virginia Nagelhout’s massages may be just the pain and/or stress reliever you need.
Virginia Nagelhout, owner of Nagelhout Massage Therapy, who started the business in her Wessington home about nine years ago, specializes in deep tissue massage and sports massage, Swedish massage and foot massage. “People of all ages and all walks of life can benefit from massage,” says Virginia. Studies have shown that pressure, anxiety, irritability, and tension can all add up to stress in the body, that when mismanaged, causes real danger to our health. Massage is found to be superior to other stress-reduction tools, requiring no active participation by the client, only that they simply relax and enjoy. A massage relieves muscular tension, increases blood circulation, nourishes cells and removes stored-up toxins and waste from the tissues, and leaves you feeling soothed, re-energized, and better able to tackle life’s challenges.
Virginia is also experienced in foot reflexology and does ear candling. “Foot reflexology,” Virginia explains, “is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet relative to each organ and all parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many stress-related health problems in a natural way, by improving nerve and blood supply.”
Virginia went on to explain that ear candling is a natural and painless way to clean out accumulated wax from within the ear canal. The whole process takes about 45 minutes and can be very relaxing.
Born and raised, in South Dakota, Virginia moved to California, where she lived for 38 years and worked in the automobile industry.Thirteen years ago, she came to Wessington and worked at the local cafe, and then at the nursing home in Miller, before training to become a massage therapist and starting her own business.
Virginia, mother of two childrena son in Nevada, and a daughter in Californiaand grandmother of five, obviously enjoys her work. “Helping people is very rewarding,” Virginia says.
When asked how the Wessington community can support her business efforts, Virginia responded, “Make an appointment to get a massage! Gift certificates are also available and make a great gift for anyone for any occasion.” You may call Virginia at her Wessington office at 458-2288. She is also available for massage therapy on Mondays and Thursdays at The Body Garden, located at 1512 Dakota Avenue South, in Huron.
